And so…… back in 2017, while scouring through a popular streaming site, I came across a band that I instantly fell in love with, that band was Hell’s addiction… from their outstanding debut album ‘Broken’ grabbed me by the wotsits and was an instant fan, fast forward to now and their new musical offering , the new V1.0 ep..

This 4 track beauty takes a slight side step (but not much of one) out and back in again from the usual all out, ball’s to the wall approach from their last full offering … but please don’t let that fool you , this slice of audio brilliance is not to be sniffed at, and shows a different side to the bands capabilities…

Let’s take a closer look track by track

Free Your Mind

This riff filled beauty of a track is a blinder, this catchy number definitely captures the bands sound and Ben’s Vocals ring out in exactly how you would expect thus maintaining the bands caliber of ‘balls to the wall’ music matching to previous tracks in their arsenal.

If Time Stopped Still

This very unexpected ballard, was a very warming and a welcomed shock, this meaningful track is a mixture of emotion & great writing that dips towards the blues (as is ‘Broken’ on the fore-mentioned full album of the same name, this beautiful touch is sure to get attention and definitely brings out a different side to the band that will both surprise and impress, but definitely wont dissapoint.

This track brings both power and technicality that fuses great guitar licks and the full backing of the band to this hair raising, goosebump causing audio experience.

Masking The Pain

Masking the pain doesn’t disappoint , it starts with a jolly little build up, then a nice subtle lead break that brings you into a false sense of security then hits you square in the face , a great use of different techniques in guitar progression throughout the entire track before the face melter of a solo begins, I particularly like the way the song quietens before it goes full force again, just like the rollercoaster ride you would expect from Hell’s Addiction.

Running Away

The current single of this Ep epic, very Airbournesk at the beginning but definitely their own, excellent ear-worm of a track, a groovy tune while maintaining the Hell’s Addiction No Bull R’n’R vibe, with Ben’s unmistakable vocals of cause.

The whole band bring out the big guns in this gritty yet catchy blinder of a track reminiscing back to the track ‘Holiday’ (My personal favourite) on their previous album and a great choice of a single.

I can only just imagine that this is just the beginning of what’s to come from the Hell’s Addiction boys in the future, and if seeing them live is anything to by then there is no doubt in saying that the future is bright.

I can’t wait to see what’s next
