London punk band Medusa, made a video that chronicles the said event, including all the obstacles they had to overcome to make it happen, a true r’n’r short movie that captures the essence of the pure energy of what Punk is all about

The intro (after some other footage) brings you into an animated world with the band rampaging through the streets of London getting into some mischief in a kind of Hanna-Barbera esc style
The initial idea was to make this project a full feature length film to capture the essence of a live event on a boat on the river Thames, but alas due to obstacles this wasn’t to be the full imagined feature film it set out to be, the audio was good with 16 songs originally recorded, but due to many camera footage issues it couldn’t be captured in its entirety, including re records in a bunker in Charlton & Dublin castle in Camden also with the ingenious addition of a custom made Marionette puppet to fill in the gaps, which that alone added a further 6 months to make, this includes a complete transformation which included sculpting & painting the face of the doll, getting a dolls wig & cut, replica boots, and getting a miniature mohair jumper to match the likeness of Julian, & then had to learn how to use it, so that alone was a lot of work, the marionette also has an exact replica of Julian’s guitar, which is pretty cool.

During a call with lead vocalist Julian I asked what he learned during the whole process, he replied learning what not to do & to gain experience for future projects, but he did say it was a lot of fun just being on the boat, very in the moment even though he was playing the gig as well, he approached a film company in Manchester who had done some work with the band in the past to finish it off in February.

This short movie took a lot of work and time and despite its problems it has been a labour of love of sorts but unfortunately nothing like this will be attempted by Julian again, he did say jokingly that he’de rather jump into the River Thames than do that again, followed by some laughter.

The British Film Institute is apparently considering it for archiving which in itself is quite remarkable.
Medusa’s Band history dates back to the spring of 1998 when Julian was 14, his 1st gig when he was 16, since its inception (like many other bands) there has been many line ups with 4 recorded albums.

The future for Medusa remains strong with a 5th album to start in 2026 and possibly a live album to follow after, unfortunately no live dates are available at this time.
